His Career
He began his professional music career right from the young age of 15 and soon joined a band called Bobby Denim and the Dominoes. He has played for other band groups like The Tridents, Peter B’s Looners, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, and others.
He launched his debut album with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers in 1967 titled A Hard Road. The album included some of his works such as The Supernatural and The Same Way. Peter also earned his nickname, The Green God, during this period.
After a while, he established his band and named it Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac featuring Jeremy Spencer which comprised Jeremy Spencer on guitar and ex-Bluesbreaker Mick Fleetwood on drums.
In 1967, the newly formed band group got to perform at the Windsor National Jazz and Blues Festival. Their performance led to them being signed to Mike Vernon’s Blue Horizon label. Shortly after, the former bassist of Bluesbreaker joined them.
On 23 August 1968, the band dropped its second studio album titled Mr. Wonderful. In 1969, the world got to hear more singles of Peter Green such as Oh Well, Albatross, Man of the World, and The Green Manalishi.
A compilation album by the band was also dropped in 1971 titled Black Magic Woman. The group also released another album which they recorded at the Chess Records Ter-Mar Studio, Chicago titled Blues Jam in Chicago.
On 19 September 1969, the band released its third studio album after signing a deal with Warner Bros. The name of the album is Then Play On, which included a new guitarist Danny Kirwan.

His Illness
The band soon started noticing Peter Green’s mental illness by 1970, as he wrote sad and depressing songs such as Man of the World. Apart from that, he started consuming LSD in huge doses.
He left the band later that year and performed at the Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music along with Rod Mayall, John Mayall, and Larry Taylor.
He rejoined Fleetwood Mac in 1971 using the name Peter Blue for their USA tour and also made two songs for the Juju album. By this time, his mental health became worse.
He was soon diagnosed with schizophrenia and spent the rest of the 1970s undergoing electroconvulsive therapies and psychotherapies. He also got arrested in 1977 for using a shotgun to threaten his accountant.
Peter soon started making small appearances here and there and even signed a contract with the PVK label of Peter Vernon-Kell. In 1981, he worked on the Super Brains and Rattlesnake Shake songs of Mick Fleetwood’s The Visitor album.
He then worked with other singers like Len Surtees, Vincent Crane, Ray Dorset, Katmandu, and more.
He collaborated with Cozy Powell and Nigel Watson in the late 1990s to form the Peter Green Splinter Group. This union birthed albums like Hot Foot Powder, Soho Session, Reaching the Cold 100, Blues Don’t Change, and many others.
He left the group in 2004 and joined The British Blues All-Stars in Sweden to perform on a tour of theirs, which got canceled, unfortunately.
In 2009, his documentary was produced by Henry Hadaway titled Peter Green: Man of the World. He created the group Peter Green and Friends and together they toured countries like England, Germany, Ireland, and Australia.

Peter Green died at the age of 73 on 25 July 2020 in Canvey Island, Essex, England.

Jane Samuels is the former wife of popular British blues-rock guitarist and composer Peter Green with whom she had Rosebud Samuels Greenbaum. Jane Samuels tied the knot with her late husband in 1978 and also gave birth to Rosebud Samuels Greenbaum in the same year.
Unfortunately, the couple parted ways with a divorce in 1979. According to his family, he died peacefully in his sleep.

Liam Firlej is the son of the late English rock Singer, Peter Green with his former girlfriend, Janina. Just recently, Liam Firlej revealed to the world that he was forced to go do a DNA test at the High Court to prove Peter Green was his biological father.
In an interview with The Mirror, he had this to say, “I feel upset that he’s dead – but also so angry that I was never given the opportunity to have a father in my life,” he says. “I feel like I was swept under the rug. I used to try to forget about him and the whole situation.
“It would work for about six months, then I would keep on hearing the music and think ‘I just can’t escape this.’ It still drives me insane.”
Liam also had this to say regarding the relationship between his mother, Janina, and his late father, “They were on a love rollercoaster together,” says Liam. “It seems he didn’t treat mum very well. He used to kick her out of the house. The relationship was rocky.”
