He was born Robert Allen Palmer on 19 January 1949, in Batley, West Riding of Yorkshire, England. Palmer died on 26 September 2003, in Paris, France, at the age of 54.

He relocated to Malta with his family when he was only a few months old. As a child, he listened to jazz, soul, and blues music on American Forces Radio, which happened to influence him.

He soon moved to Scarborough, Yorkshire, in his teens. While still at Scarborough High School for Boys, at the age of 15, he joined the Mandrakes, his first band.

The following year, he left school to study art at Scarborough School of Art & Design. The ex-husband of Susan Eileen Thatcher soon got a job at the Scarborough Evening News.

In 1974, he signed a solo deal with Island Records. In the same year, he released his debut solo album titled Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley

Robert Palmer Net Worth

Until his death, Robert Palmer reportedly had an estimated net worth of around $10 million. This he earned from his professional career working as an English singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer.

He was assumed to have other business investments and sponsorship deals.

In 1969, Robert Palmer met and fell in love with Susan Eileen Thatcher at Slough railway station. After two years, the two tied the knot and had two children.

Robert Palmer Death

Robert Palmer passed away on 26 September 2003 at age 54, in a hotel room in Paris. He died from a heart attack.

“He was a very dear friend and a great artist. This is a tragic loss to the British music industry,” said Duran Duran while paying tribute. Palmer was buried in Lugano, Switzerland.
