She was born Margaret Frances McGloin on Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, USA, and passed away at the age of 45 on 30 October 1961, in New York, New York County (Manhattan), New York, USA.

Before her death, she celebrated her birthday on Cyrene Ameta “Ameta” Cook McGloin while her father was Gilbert James McGloin.

She had four siblings whose names are Gilbert James McGloin II, Barbara Ann McGloin Johnson, John Patrick McGloin, and Kathleen McGannon McGloin Homer.

Margaret McGloin married Allen Ludden on October 11, 1943, and lived happily together until her death.

He was born Allen Packard Ellsworth on October 5, 1917, in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, U.S., and died at the age of 63 on June 9, 1981, in Los Angeles, California, U.S.

His father was an ice dealer named Elmer Ellsworth while his mother was a housewife named Leila M. Ellsworth. After Allen’s birth, his father passed away the following year from the Spanish flu.

His mother soon married an electrical engineer named Homer J. Ludden.

He enrolled at the University of Texas where he studied English and dramatics and graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors in 1940. In 1941, he earned his Master of Arts in English from the same university.

The husband of the late Margaret McGloin became the officer in charge of entertainment in the Pacific theater while he was serving in the United States Army.

In 1946, he was discharged while he was a captain.

His career kicked off during the late 1940s and early 1950s when he became an adviser for youth in teen magazine columns and on the radio.

In 1950, Mind Your Manners, Allen’s radio show for teenagers earned an honorable mention Peabody Award. He was a host for several game shows such as College Bowl.

From 1961 and 1975, he was popularly known for hosting both the prime-time and daytime versions of Password on ABC and CBS. In 1979, he started hosting Password Plus, an updated version of the game on NBC.

He has hosted other shows such as Win with the Stars, Liar’s Club, Stumpers!, The Joker’s Wild, and Allen Ludden’s Gallery

On October 11, 1943, Allen Ludden married his first wife Margaret McGloin. They were together until her death on October 30, 1961. The former couple had three children; David, Martha, and Sarah.

He soon met American actress and comedian Betty White on Password. Ludden proposed to Betty White more than twice before she finally accepted.

In 1963, the two appeared together in the romantic comedy play titled Janus. They eventually tied the knot on June 14, 1963.
